Job Description
Job Overview:
The Television Distribution Manager is responsible for supervising the activities of the Television Distribution Department teams in order to ensure the complete and precise processing of television program, commercial and promotional performances, resulting in the accurate and timely crediting of ASCAP-licensed parties for the performance of their works on television.
Areas of responsibility/accountability:
Leader/Strategist (40%)
• Analyze internal and external trends impacting the area of responsibility and communicate impact on ASCAP to Senior Management
• Develop department strategies, goals and plans in order to ensure that TV Distribution Department is properly aligned to respond to shifts in ASCAP's strategic direction
• Work with TV Distribution Director, Team Leaders and Coordinators to develop well-aligned department, team and individual quarterly quantity and quality goals
• Ensure that teams have the resources required to meet goals
• Work with TV Distribution Senior Director to maintain integrity of department budget
• Coordinate quarterly department meetings
• Proactively identify areas for potential innovation and cost savings in workflow and technology
Monitor/Decision Maker/Quality Assurance (30%)
• Oversee day-to-day activities of TV teams
• Develop best practice recommendations for key business processes
• Monitor systems and key business processes to ensure best practices are being met and to identify improvement opportunities
• Ensure accuracy of work completed by outside vendors
• Monitor and communicate progress against goals to staff
• Intervene with teams and ISD as necessary to identify improvement strategies, to prepare systems requests and to develop and execute action plans
Coach/Counselor/Personnel (20%)
• Oversee monitoring of time and attendance
• Develop Team Leaders and senior staff
• Help teams resolve internal problems (e.g. performance, interpersonal)
• Provide job-related support to teams
• Assist in development of performance reviews and staffing decisions
• Coordinate recruiting and hiring of effective employees
• Communicate and ensure that ASCAP policy and procedure are followed
Service Provider (10%)
• Communicate with ASCAP members and their representatives to resolve issues
• Work with other departments within ASCAP to resolve TV-related issues
Qualifications
and Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years management/leadership experience
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to set and monitor goals and development plans
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Ability to interact with people at all levels of business and resolve conflicts effectively
• Proven experience in recruiting, training and developing effective employees
• Team player, self-starter, independent and self-sufficient
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and internet applications
