The Amazon Studios Business Development team manages new business initiatives, distribution off-Prime Video and licensing & merchandising. Reporting to the Biz Dev team, the rapidly growing Licensing and Merchandise team extends Amazon Studios-owned IP into different product categories, from apparel to toys to multimedia. The team is fulfilling the customer need/want to own products featuring their favorite characters and shows.
The ideal Licensing Manager for this role will help us make the right products by understanding our customers through leveraging search traffic data, user reviews, competitive analysis and customer feedback. They will identify potential partners, negotiate and sign deals, and develop product road map plans. They will work on cross-functional team to launch products, including finance, legal, accounting, product safety, social responsibility and marketing. They will own the products from end-to-end across multiple categories, delivering results for our customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- 4-6 years of work experience in consumer products (toy companies, movie studios, retail distribution)
- Robust knowledge of brand positioning, retail business development, retail distribution and the retail landscape
- Experience managing licensees, including contract negotiation, product development and marketing/promotions development
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams, leveraging both internal and external partnerships
- Strategic thinker who can help build franchise plans across multiple product categories, identifying financial targets, growth opportunities and distribution strategies.
- Ability to ensure all products meet Amazon's quality bar
- Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, some PowerPoint)
- Passion for the business and future of entertainment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters of Business Administration preferred
- 4-6 years' work in outbound licensing of IP, preferably at a major studio or production company
- Experience working with consumer product databases, SQL and advanced analytics tools
- Excellent written communication
- Honors or high GPA from undergrad or graduate program
- Experience managing a team
