Job Title: Weather Anchor / Meteorologist
KCEC Univision Colorado is looking for an experienced Regional Weather Anchor or Meteorologist for its Spanish Language newscasts.
Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a weather anchor working in a television newsroom. Position requires on-air experience in weather anchoring and live weather reporting. Qualified candidates must have knowledge and understanding of computer graphics systems and computer forecasting. A thorough understanding of Cinema Live HD is a plus.
Education:
BA in Journalism, Communication or related studies/ Meteorology/Atmospheric Science degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
As Weather Anchor you will be responsible for producing and presenting multiple weather segments, compiled through weather data and computer graphics for several cities.
• Prepares weather information during breaking news, long-form weather cut-ins
• Records multiple web-casts and work heavily on social media.
• Writes and prepares forecasts; produces graphics to tell the weather story.
• Writes and report weather related stories for newscasts.
• Attends daily editorial meetings and keeps news personnel up to date on current weather conditions.
• Participates in Community Relations events.
• Anchors weathercasts for other markets and provide severe weather coverage when needed.
• Oversees the overall weather presentation and strategy
• Responsible for regularly updating station's website; posting weather news or videos online and coordinating web content with digital reporter.
• Produces and writes weather alerts for mobile devices and news ticker.
• Produces story packages aside from weather presentation.
• Participates in community events and represents those appearances on social media.
Requirements:
BA in Journalism, Communication or related studies/ Meteorology/Atmospheric Science degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the field
Must be willing to work in Denver Metro area
Must be 18 years or older
Must be fluent in Spanish (speak, read & write)
Must be willing to submit a background investigation
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Punctuality and Dependability are essential
Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and Holidays and be willing to change schedule with little or no notice if needed
