Responsibilities
-Ensure the look of each daily live broadcast for picture quality
-Advise and execute equipment needs
-Create best practices for all productions from a visual perspective
-Ideate, conceptualize, shoot, and edit a wide variety of Forward Publishing / Daily Wire content
-Work with Director of Production to understand how to interpret scripts and make cinematic style and tone decisions
-Dictate how scenes should be lit
-Properly frame shots as DP sees fit
-Create a desired look using lighting, framing, camera movement, etc.
-Directorial duties as needed
-Work closely with Production department
-Perform photo-retouching and enhancements as necessary
-Perform color-correcting and color-grading of all projects that are shot by the DP as well as some projects from other sources
-Ensure that internal deadlines, timetables and approval procedures are adhered to for assigned project phases
-Determine the look, feel, and mood of the scene through lighting
-Operate camera for projects
Skills Needed
-Have good technical knowledge of photo-chemical and digital processes
-Knowledgeable about camera operation; composing the image, adjusting focus and exposure and use of filters
-In-depth knowledge of lighting techniques and how to achieve them
-At least 2+ years previous experience working professionally as a DP
-Be flexible in order to adapt ideas instantly
-Able to make decisions quickly
-Have artistic and creative vision
-Strong attention to detail
-Ability to give and accept direction
-Excellent communication skills
-Diplomatic and tactful when working with cast and crew
-Required proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - specifically Adobe Premiere & After Effects (ideally also Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
-Basic knowledge with screenwriting software such as celtx or Final Draft
-Well-organized, self-directed team player
