Responsibilities:
The Sr. Paralegal will work closely with the Business/Legal Affairs team to draft development and production agreements and help register, maintain and track intellectual property on behalf of Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production unit that produces non-theatrical movies and TV series for distribution worldwide in all media.
Essential Responsibilities:
Negotiate and draft production agreements (including above the line talent, vendors, location and equipment agreements), revise and redline documents to show internal revisions, as well as, comments from third parties.
Examine all documents posted each day, determine Universal's obligations under these agreements and then ensure that all critical dates and deadlines are tracked accurately so that Universal fulfills all obligations under the agreements.
Analyze production agreements with above-the-line talent, as well as distribution agreements to create and maintain compensation charts for consistent deal-making practices.
Prepare main title, end title and paid advertising summaries.
Update and maintain legal templates.
Maintain and organize shared drive.
Manage production legal delivery elements and assure that the documents are filed and distributed to all appropriate studio departments.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
Minimum of 7 years of paralegal or contract analysis experience in the area of entertainment law, preferably with experience in a Business
Affairs or Legal Affairs department at a studio or major production company or boutique law entertainment law firm.
Contract drafting experience required.

Desired Characteristics:
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point, Access and Outlook
Database management experience (legal database systems are a plus)
Ability to learn quickly is essential in this fast-paced environment.

Superior computer, communication and writing skills
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and summarize contracts.
A self-starter, with the ability to work independently and diligently with exceptional organizational abilities, administrative skills and follow-up.
Attention to detail and deadlines is of utmost importance.
Must be able to multi-task and handle high volume in a deadline driven environment.
