Full Time Job
JOB SUMMARY:
The Media Relations Associate will provide support to the full-time members of the Media Relations Department of the New York Mets. This is a short-term full-time position, from December 2017 through December 2018. The Associate will assist with the daily duties of the Department, which may include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
• Daily Clips: Compile and send out a Daily Clips packet to all Mets front office employees and media members that cover the team. The packet includes all of that day’s daily newspaper articles about the Mets, and baseball in general, as well as any non-sports articles that mention the Mets, Citi Field and anything else that references the organization.
• Game Notes: Help compile parts of the daily games notes that are used by all media.
• Video Clips: Using a video service and their program, search video clips from news programs the day/night before and compile a video email of all Mets related stories.
• Mets Magazine: Assist with writing and editing of our final game day publication.
• Media Support: Responsible for setting up our press areas for home games. Will issue daily credentials and staff the press gate. Must make sure the press box is set up properly. After the game, will help distribute post-game notes, and assist the writers with any questions, research needs, or problems they may have.
• Credentialing: Responsible for creating and distributing daily media credentials on game days.
• Parking: Help compile and issue passes for the daily media parking list on game days.
• Community Engagement: Assist our Community Engagement in securing media coverage for their events.
• Media Guide: Help research and input information into our preseason media guide for the upcoming season. Will also fact check and proofread certain sections of the book.
• Postseason Guide: Responsible for inputting information and proofreading our Year in Review publication.
• Off-Season Media/Charity Events: Assist in the planning of off-season fall/winter charity events. Assist in pitching different media off-season stories.
• Office Support: Assist with the day-to-day functions of the department
REQUIREMENTS
• Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Media Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sports Administration/Management, or another relevant major.
• Availability to work nights and weekends, as assigned, based on Mets schedule.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (bilingual) is strongly preferred.
