Full Time Job
The Director, International Tax will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Tax and play an important role in developing, implementing and maintaining an efficient worldwide tax structure. The position will focus on the management of the tax matters associated with Company's international structure and interface extensively with cross functional leadership including finance/accounting, legal, corporate development, treasury and HR. The role will involve providing subject matter expertise on U.S and/or foreign tax issues associated with the expansion of the Company's global footprint including U.S. Subpart F, foreign tax credits, foreign currency, acquisitions, reorganizations and divestitures. The position will also support the international components associated with the Company's quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP income tax reporting as well as those related to the Company's annual U.S. income tax compliance.
Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support international aspects of quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740.
• Collaborate with Treasury and other cross functional leaders to develop tax efficient cash movement or repatriation strategies.
• Direct preparation of U.S. foreign tax credit, Forms 5471 and other miscellaneous information reporting (e.g. country by country reporting) or international items associated with the Company's annual U.S. tax compliance.
• Assist with development of intercompany pricing for programming, content and services. Coordinate preparation of U.S. transfer pricing documentation
• Active management of international tax structure. Work with outside advisors to identify and implement restructurings or other revisions required by changes in U.S. or foreign law, global M & A activities or strategic/tax planning initiatives. Confirm financial reporting appropriately reflects anticipated results.
• As directed, develop and maintain earnings and profits pools, tax pools, previously taxed income and U.S. tax basis of foreign subsidiaries.
• Keep abreast of international tax developments. Advise regarding potential impacts to the company. Recommend and implement strategies to mitigate unfavorable impact.
• Hire, supervise, train, coach and develop staff; coordinate performance management process and related development.
• Monitor intercompany licensing and trademark pricing and related agreements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA and/or MST preferred. Minimum 5 years overall international experience in a Big 4/regional public accounting firm or corporate tax function of a publicly traded company. Direct experience in cross-border transactional tax planning, international tax compliance and M&A.
Requirements include
• Well-developed technical skill set in the international corporate tax planning area. Strong working knowledge of U.S. international taxation including subpart F and foreign tax credit planning, transfer pricing, cross-border M & A structuring and funding and cash movement/repatriation strategies.
• Solid understanding and exposure to U.S. GAAP income tax accounting under ASC 740 and the concepts related to international operations (e.g. APB 23)
• Business acumen with ability to apply tax expertise in practical manner and act as credible business advisor. Cross-functional adaptability and ability to effectively translate tax issues to non-tax colleagues
• Self-confidence. Comfortable with independently researching and recommending appropriate courses of action regarding complex tax and business issues.
• Achievement oriented self-starter with ability to ''roll-up sleeves'' and manage project from inception to completion
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Professional demeanor and appetite for challenge.
