Sr Analyst, Strategy & Innovation - Home Entertainment
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment encompasses all of Sony Pictures' non-theatrical transactional distribution channels, including both physical (e.g., Wal-Mart, Redbox) and digital (e.g., iTunes, DirecTV). The Strategy & Innovation team supports the President and Head of the Consumer Strategy Group of SPHE to help drive the strategy of the division and implement innovation within the Home Entertainment sector.

• Incubate – To embolden the organization to take risks on potential new initiatives by evaluating and championing the most promising ideas
• Advise – To support SPHE in achieving key strategic and operational objectives by producing concrete, action-oriented solutions based on thorough analysis and keen insight, thereby delivering greater value to the studio and our partners

Illustrative Projects & Initiatives
The Strategy & Innovation group supports the head of Consumer Strategy on the division's strategic priorities; project work can include any of the following:
• Facilitate the incubation of the most promising opportunities by collaborating with and leading cross-functional teams (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance, etc.) or external parties (e.g. vendors and startups) to design, execute, and communicate tests, and determine approach to scale (if applicable)
• Identify, evaluate, and champion new opportunities to delight consumers or alleviate pain points by innovating the Home Entertainment product or experience by using new technologies, apps, or by enhancing the product
• Engage with retail customers (e.g. iTunes, Amazon, Walmart) to sell-in high potential consumer-based opportunities, as well as more generally deliver thought leadership on consumer value for the home entertainment category
• Engage with external partners (consultants, universities, research agencies) on a regular basis to secure fresh perspectives and insights on best practices to enhance and/or support the consumer strategy
• Support major commercial deals through modeling deal economics and conducting due-diligence research in order to develop strategic recommendations
Responsibilities:
• Perform analytical modeling to evaluate new business models, support key strategic commercial decisions, and derive insights from consumer data
• Support initiatives identified as immediate and long-term opportunities to create greater value for the Home Entertainment product or experience
• Actively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to facilitate the incubation of most promising opportunities to grow the business
• Create and deliver practical strategic, operational, and/or financial analysis to address key issues or opportunities for the business
• Research and assess high-level consumer, industry, company analysis and/or market trends for actionable insights or potential investments that could power growth in the business
• Develop and deliver verbal and written communications, including presentations, to share insights and recommendations for divisional and senior management to inform the decision-making process
Requirements:
Experience
• 2 years of top-tier general management consulting, investment banking experience, and/or other internal industry-consulting roles or start-up business development experience is preferred
Education
• BA/BS in Business or related field.
Skills
• Superior strategic analysis competencies – performs sophisticated hypothesis-driven analysis with only broad oversight
• Ability to understand implications of analysis and probe deeper when confronted with inconsistent or interesting findings
• Intellectual curiosity in exploring and testing new business ideas
• Ability to draw well-integrated conclusions and tell a cohesive story from insights and analyses
• Understanding of financial principles/techniques of financial analysis, including discounted cash flows and other valuation techniques
• Strong initiative and the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Enthusiasm and passion for following trends in media and entertainment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to partner and collaborate effectively with cross-divisional functions and external partners
