Search for Sales Director - Fine Arts Division jobs in Beverly Hills-CA
Based in Los Angeles, UTA Artist Space is seeking an experienced professional to join the team as full time Sales Director. Candidate should possess proven relationships with clients, collectors and museums. Applicant must be highly organized and motivated, with extensive sales experience in a fine arts setting.
Candidate must be able to work with a tight knit group of dedicated professionals and willing to work a flexible schedule that may include long workdays during hectic periods. The Sales Director will be expected to travel from time to time. A professional demeanor and appearance are important.
The individual will play a central role in the commercial and creative success of UTA Artist Space. They will ensure that the space runs smoothly, and that exhibitions are organized, successful, and developed. The role demands a combination of art knowledge, business acumen, and business development skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - attention to detail is a must.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface in a professional manner with clients, artists, and staff.
Ability to work independently and a self-starter.
Interest in building a relationship between clients and UTA Artist Space.
Creative and tenacious in developing new sales channels.
At least 8 years of sales experience at a high caliber gallery or auction house.
Proven history of sales of both primary and secondary market artworks.
Interest in and understanding of contemporary art, institutions, and the art market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Compile, follow up and continually add to database of potential sales leads.
Oversee operations and logistics and ability to assist with these responsibilities as needed.
Provide high level input on programming.
Cultivate relationships with artists as well as collectors.
Be a public face for UTA Artist Space and attend art world events.
Report to the principal of UTA Artist Space.
Salary commensurate with experience. Commission structure and benefits will be offered.
