Bryant Park Corporation and 34th Street Partnership are hiring a House Manager to facilitate summer programming in both districts.
Hourly Rate: $21
Job type: Part-time, seasonal. Fully in-person with no option for remote work.
Schedule: Nights and weekends. Around 20 hours per week, rising to 30 hours at peak season.
Projected dates: Late April through September, 2024.
This is a seasonal position - successful candidates will need to re-apply for any future positions.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with Lead House Manager in supervising Production Assistants in the same-day set-up and/or break-down of front-of-house spaces for large scale events on the Bryant Park Lawn, including Picnic Performances and Movie Nights
• Act as a front-of-house ambassador and engage with the public to communicate event policies
• Coordinate with Program Managers to ensure a prompt run-of-show
• Assign positions, manage breaks, and shape hospitality etiquette for front-of-house staff
• Liaise with sanitation and security staff, event vendors, on-site EMT, and other partners
• Work independently to manage pop-up performances and programs around the 34th Street District, including partner liaison, set-up and break down of performance spaces and basic audio tech
• Troubleshoot logistical event issues, including weather, schedule changes, and crowding
• Other responsibilities as requested by supervisor
Additional responsibilities may include:
• Create staffing schedules and process payroll using Sling
• Assist with hiring and training additional Production Assistants
• Maintain and replace equipment where necessary
Responsibilities within the company may be added if the individual demonstrates initiative, growth, and proficiency in their tasks.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree, in a relevant course of study preferred
• Experience as a stage hand, stage manager, sound engineer, or production assistant a plus
• Outgoing, mature, and assertive, with a ''no-job-too-small'' attitude
• Ability to multi-task, show initiative and to work independently as well as a team leader
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Responsible and detail-oriented with excellent observation skills
• Flexibility regarding day-of scheduling, due to the nature of live events
• Ability to lift 50lbs and to stay on feet for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions
