JOB TITLE: Analytics Manager
12 Month Fixed Term Contract
JOB SUMMARY:
Viacom operates a broad portfolio of channel brands with touchpoints spanning traditional TV, short form and long form VOD services, consumer products/merchandise, and live events. Audience interaction with our brands and content is constantly evolving, and our ability to grow the business is predicated on us understanding these behaviours and the broader market landscape.
The Analytics team is core to this in providing audience and market intelligence to the wider business, and driving forward the strategic and commercial opportunities informed by this insight. We work across the full portfolio of brands and territories that fall within the UK Cluster remit.
The team requires a manager to take charge of both the day –to-day responsibilities, and to help define and rollout the UK Cluster Data Strategy. This is a broad role, requiring the ability to multi-task, to engage with multiple stakeholders, and to be both fluent in the detail and strategic in approach.
There are three core elements to the role
• Project-based analytics – support for the wider business in providing audience intelligence on both traditional linear and non-linear consumption
• Ownership of multiplatform data analytics – work with product owners to define and track key metrics; develop efficient reporting processes to track performance
• Define and develop the Data Strategy – championing the use of data within the business, articulating the business value and investment case, and developing data skillsets and capabilities
The role calls for someone with a strong background in data and digital analytics, a passion for innovation and technology, excellent communication skills, and a genuine understanding of the trends within the digital media industry.
The business is still at a relatively early stage in its understanding and application of data analytics, and as such this role offers a great opportunity for the right individual to have a significant impact in shaping the data strategy and capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead analytics projects to deliver commercial and strategic insight to the business
• Build up the analytics expertise within the UK Cluster via sharing of analytics knowledge/best practice and via internal training sessions
• Be the internal product analytics expert for VIMN UK and act as the key contact point for analytics queries from the cluster multi-platform leadership/team
• Support Consumer Insight teams across the UK Cluster with specific data analytics when required
• Conduct deeper analysis of product data to uncover new insight and drive business growth
• Stay abreast of analytics and digital developments in the market; share knowledge within the business
• Support the Senior Director, Strategy & Analytics, as and when required on broader initiatives
• Develop digital skill sets and build new data capabilities
• Build new data environments to engage and inspire key stakeholders with performance data across multiple platforms and regions
• Pioneer the integration and usage of new consumption data sources to drive day-to-day editorial and business decision making
• Democratise data within the business; opening up access to the wider business to enable more effective decision making
• Ensure best practice data governance principles are in place within the business
ROLE-SPECIFIC SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:
Essential
• Knowledge of TV/digital media landscape
• 4 years’ experience in a role with a significant element of analytics
• Proven ability to draw out key insights and strategic recommendations from data
• A degree in a quantitative discipline
• Experience of using TechEdge
• Strong experience of using Adobe/Omniture or an equivalent web analytics tool
• Working knowledge of syndicated web analytics tools such as Hitwise, Comscore or Nielsen
• Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft office packages
• Experience or exposure to international markets and sensibilities
• Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work on own initiative and without close supervision
Desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of real time editorial analytics
• Experience of commercial / editorial media research
• Exposure to A/B testing and statistical sampling
• Some understanding and/or experience of web analytics implementation
• Experience working with data warehouses
• Working knowledge of SQL and R or Python
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
