Do you like working with numbers and tracking data but want to learn more about the book publishing industry? Are you a motivated self-starter who thinks no job is too small? Well, keep reading because Diversion Publishing is seeking a Royalties/Bookkeeping Assistant to join our growing book publishing team. This unique role combines the responsibilities of a Royalties Assistant along with bookkeeping responsibilities. Our ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator who is extremely organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This role will support the day-to-day business operations, as well as offer a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the publishing industry. Previous experience working as an assistant at a Publishing or Literary Agency is required.
Roles & Responsibilities
Administrative, Royalties
• Record author/agent royalty payments in QuickBooks Online.
• Organize files for accounting and royalty documents.
• Reconcile distributions and retail monthly reports program.
• Support in the preparation of financial reports related to royalty earnings and distribution
• Review and confirm ACH and Wire payment set up for royalty vendors
• Attend meetings, maintain agendas, and take meeting notes
• Support other departments including production & editorial
Bookkeeping
• Assist with monthly account reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate records of royalty revenue.
• Purchase office supplies and other materials as required.
• Coordinate and track vendor invoicing, payments, and tax forms
Qualifications Required
• QuickBooks Online 2 years
• General knowledge of royalties
• Willingness to learn RIGHTS 20|20 program.
• Experience with Google Suite, Dropbox, and Microsoft Excel
• Strong administrative skills with a ''no job too small'' work ethic
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
• A passion for books and a genuine interest in the publishing industry
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Hours: 15 - 20 hours a week
Location: This is an on-site position at our Manhattan (midtown) office.
